Your tour starts at 9:30am with a drive through histroic Mary Street viewing the beautiful Victorian-era architecture. I will reveal the history of many of the old buildings including hidden aspects like the old Libery Cinema.
We will then proceed to the hitoric railway and on to Wolvi where we will view a hidden rainforest. After a short drive through the forestry you will be taken on a 20 minute walk amongst the giants of the forest, the Gympie Messmate trees which stand over 50 metres.
Then onto the historic Kin Kin Hotel built in 1914, for refreshments.
Pomona and Mt Cooroora is the next stop, where the internationally famous King of the Mountain run is held every year. It's a great spot for lunch with the magestic mountain as a backdrop. After this 30-40 minute break where you will have a choice of lunch venues e.g. Bakery, cafe, takeaway, ect. We will make our way to Cooran Lookout. The views from the lookout are magic! You can see from Noosa-Tewantin to the Carlo Sand Blow at Rainbow beach with having the Pacific Ocean as a background.
After a short trip through the forestry we make our way to the Mothar Mountain rock pools. The rock pools are a very unique formation of rocks with a constant flow of springwater. The The site was used by the indigenous locals as "initiation pools".
Back to Gympie to point out some of the town's industry including the Eldorado Gold Mine which is the 8th largest producer of gold in Australia. The tour ends with a view from the highest point in Gympie to over look the town.
